First concert: Shaun Cassidy 1978

All time favorite TV show: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Earliest pop culture memory: “I remember the first time my mom let me pick which movie I wanted to see. Without hesitation, I said, ‘Jesus Christ, Superstar.’ I was four years old. Clearly my love of music (and fringed costumes) is as old as my own story.”

Claudette Silver's work blends art, music and popular culture with activism. She is a seasoned strategist with more than twenty years of experience developing events, campaigns, and community outreach plans for nonprofits across the country. She regularly teams up with other professionals like LightBox Collaborative and Resonance and is a past organizer of the SPIN Academy, a training program for progressive communicators.

For the past several years, Claudette has been deeply involved in helping organizers with issues uniquely situated in the South, particularly North Carolina. From developing messaging and workshops for Blueprint NC and Down Home NC to creating outreach plans and website content for Thrive Asheville, Claudette creates strategies that reflect each client's individual needs. She is also interested in the connection between thriving local economies and healthy communities, and she is a past steering committee member of the Asheville Go Local Campaign.

Believing in the power of pop culture to shape attitudes, she has also worked extensively with music projects like Kenny Chesney, Brandi Carlile, and the Recording Academy’s Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala. She was born on a Sunday in the same hospital as Tom Petty, which might account for why she, too, was born a rebel.

Since 2007, she has lived in (and loved!) Asheville, NC.
