Engaging women and young voters
In 2004, 2008, and 2012, Silver Muse Productions worked closely with Gloria Steinem and her team to produce voter engagement events in several key states. In 2004, we planned a ten-day RV tour through Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Wisconsin with People for the American Way Voters Alliance, and events included a stop with Michael Moore in Toledo, and an appearance with feminist rockers Le Tigre in Philadelphia.
In 2008, we planned a series of nearly thirty small events for Gloria with voters in the Denver area with local organizations such as Latina Initiative and Colorado Consumer Health Initiative. In this election, Colorado defeated two controversial ballot measures—Proposition 46, a deceptive anti-equality ballot initiative, and Proposition 48, which would have redefined “person” in the state constitution to include a fertilized egg.
In 2012, we connected Gloria to voters in Florida through a series of community conversations across the state. Voters successfully defeated Amendment 6, an anti-choice measure, and we also arranged Gloria to appear live on MSNBC during the last Presidential Debate in Boca Raton, Florida.
